Xeomin® is an exciting new alternative to Botox® and Dysport® – use to treat wrinkles and frown lines on the forehead and between the eyes. Like its counterparts, Xeomin is a botulinum type injectable treatment. It was FDA-approved in 2011, but it has been used in Europe for several years.
What makes Xeomin different than Botox and Dysport is its chemical makeup. Xeomin is called the “naked toxin”, because it lacks the complex proteins found in other brands. Without any additives, there is a lower risk for the formation of antibody, making patients less likely to develop a resistance to Xeomin.
Xeomin® vs. Botox® and Dysport®
Each of these brands share the same basic makeup, all being derived from botulinum toxin A. All three also work to achieve the same goal – minimized appearance of frown lines and creases in the forehead and wrinkles around they eyes. Like Botox and Dysport, it takes about one week to see the full effects of Xeomin and results of all three last about 3 to 4 months.
They all cost about the same as well. Xeomin, may be slightly less expensive compared to the other three. However, the full cost of treatment depends on a number of factors including the number of vials needed to achieve the desired results.
